![]() I have written for as long as I can remember: poetry, short stories and novels. I was born in the normal way in 1971, and vaguely remember half-pennies and sixpences. Until Temujin was chasing a vision: to unite many tribes into one, to make the earth tremble under the hoofbeats of a thousand warhorses, to subject unknown nations and even empires to his will.Īlso publishes under author name C.F. Blessed with ferocious courage, it was the young warrior's ability to learn, to imagine, and to judge the hearts of others that propelled him to greater and greater power. ![]() And so did the challenges he faced-from the machinations of a Chinese ambassador to the brutal abduction of his young wife, Borte. Through a series of courageous raids against the Tartars, Temujin's legend grew. But Temujin endured-and from that moment on, he was driven by a singular fury: to survive in the face of death, to kill before being killed, and to conquer enemies who could come without warning from beyond the horizon. ![]() ![]() Temujin's young life was shaped by a series of brutal acts: the betrayal of his father by a neighboring tribe and the abandonment of his entire family, cruelly left to die on the harsh plain. He was born Temujin, the son of a khan, raised in a clan of hunters migrating across the rugged steppe. ![]() ![]() ![]() Her ability to observe and render feline behavior has earned her respect from the Japanese manga community as a whole. After doing some research and finding it on a "most disturbing books ever written list" I was feeling pretty let down. My favourite story was the one where the guy put a stick of wax in his dickhole and masterbated. "This book will make grown men cringe" well if that's the case why the fuck aren't I cringing?! Anyway I didn't even flinch while reading it, but I did have a big chuckle the entire time reading it because of the stupidity of the stories & the writing is pretty good. Apparently this book is so disturbing and disgusting that people fainted at a live reading of it and others literally vomited their guts up. ![]() I was sent this book by a friend who knows I have a warped sense of humor. ** This short story is an excerpt from the novel Haunted** ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In the final part of the trilogy, Titus Alone, Titus, now almost twenty, escapes from the oppression of the Castle, but becomes lost in a sandstorm and is stranded in a big, bustling city. Gormenghast follows Titus from 7 to 17, growing up in a cobwebbed kingdom of Byzantine government and age-old rituals, a world primed to implode beneath the weight of centuries of intrigue, treachery, manipulation and murder. ![]() Inside, all events are predetermined by a complex ritual, lost in history, understood only by Sourdust, Lord of the Library. But things are changing in the castle, and Titus must contend with treachery, manipulation and murder as well as his own longing for a life beyond the castle walls.Īs the first novel, Titus Groan, opens, Titus has just been born: he stands to inherit the miles of rambling stone and mortar that stand for Gormenghast Castle. Titus is expected to rule this gothic labyrinth of turrets and dungeons (and his eccentric and wayward subjects) according to strict age-old rituals. Mervyn Peake’s Gormenghast is the vast, crumbling castle to which the seventy-seventh Earl, Titus Groan, is lord and heir. ![]() ![]() Rollins investigates these ideas that go beyond our minds' boundaries, and uses them to craft near-fantasy thrillers. Just think about some of the completely unbelievable discoveries of quantum physics - the "cloud" of probability, Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, quantum entanglement, the puzzling dual nature of light - they all surpass our understanding - toppling Newtonian physics to its foundations - yet still stand up to mathematical rigor. I think that, when we close our minds to wild possibilities - believing that we already know how the world works - then we also close ourselves from understanding and joy. and Rollins has the intelligence to research thoroughly and conjecture (just barely) plausibly. However, if you listen without judging, you will see that Rollins has done his research before commencing his wild conjecturing. This third Rollins thriller pushes credibility to the limit, same as its predecessors do. because it just might justify your spending a credit. ![]() Now, if you still have some curiosity about "Deep Fathom," read on. If you are looking for realistic believability, then you should skip James Rollins: He will □□□□□□ stretch your suspension-of-disbelief capacity to its breaking point. If you are looking for lyrical, beautiful writing, then you should skip James Rollins: He is no James Lee Burke or Cormac McCarthy. ![]() Rollins Just Beginning to Hit His Stride. ![]() ![]() ![]() The fourth book in the Twig and Turtle chapter book series, Make New Friends, But Keep the Old weaves themese of friendshipand finding your voice in a sweet package that fans of Ivy and Bean and Judy Moody will find hard to resist.
